Education and health are two sides of the coin which are related to each other, inseparable and represent two of the three indicators of Human Development Index (HDI), which determines the quality of human resources.

That was said by Health Minister dr. Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, MPH, Dr. PH in his speech when receiving a visit of Healthy Schools Contest winner, on Thursday (08/19/2010) in Jakarta.

Menkes said, Implementation of School Health Enterprises (UKS) with emphasis on the activities of promotive and preventive efforts and supported by the curative and rehabilitative efforts of quality becomes very important and strategic role in efforts to improve learning achievement in particular, and medical students in general. Therefore UKS quality need to be implemented in all schools, including religious education and boarding school from the kindergarden school level /Raudhatul Park, Elementary School / Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, Junior High / Madrasah Tsanawiyah to High School / Vocational School / Madrasah Aliyah.

It is said further, the importance of school health contained in the Health Decree No. 36 Year 2009 Article 79 which reads "School of Health was held to enhance students' ability to live healthy in a healthy environment so that students learn, grow, and develop in a harmonious and high- a source of high quality human resources. " School Health Enterprises is a vehicle to improve the health of students, through the Triassic UKS Program, they are  Health Education, Health and Environmental Development Life Healthy Schools, said Minister of Health.

UKS Development and managed through the LCS four Ministers in 2003 that the Minister of Health, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Home Affairs and Minister of Religious Affairs. Year 2010 Minister of Home Affairs reaffirmed this UKS stabilization through 441.5/1650/SJ numbers Circular dated April 28, 2010. To the all UKS Team leader, both the district level, district and provincial levels as well as the center should always coordinate and synergize in the implementation of programs to increase UKS better future.

Minister of Health said the role of Health Center in the Healthy Schools Competition is very important, especially in terms of health services like immunization, implementing netting, periodic health examinations, provide counseling, a little physician practice, and others.

Minister of Health expects to health workers in order to become a model for other health centers in implementing health programs in schools and return to their respective regions, will be even harder UKS nurture and develop its region.
