Minister of Health, dr. Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, MPH, Dr. PH led Indonesian delegation at the 63rd session of WHA (World Health Assembly) on 16 to 21 May 2010 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Indonesian delegation consisted of Prof.. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, Sp. P (K), MARS, DTM & H, Director General of Disease Control & Environmental Health (P2PL), Dr. Makarim Wibisono, the Special Staff of Minister for Health Sector Relations and International Cooperation Institute, dr. Indriono Tantoro, MPH, Special Staff of Minister for Health and Health Sector Reform Development Acceleration Bureaucracy, dr.Untung Suseno, Head of Planning and Budget, Dra. Niniek Naryatie Kun, Head of Foreign Cooperation, dr. David Handoyo Mulyono, Sp.PD, PhD, and Dr. Widjaja Lukito, PhD, SpGK.SpGK.

PD, and other health ministry officials.
Added by Minister, WHA is the supreme court of the World Health Organization / World Health Organization (WHO) held in May each year. On that occasion he will give a speech at the General Assembly on Foreign Policy and Global Health (FPGH) "Accelerating the Achievement of the MDG's target of 4 and 5 through Governance", held meetings with the Minister of Health, Non-Aligned Movement with the theme "Strenghtening the International Health System & Reinforcing Health Security Against Pandemic ", and a meeting with the Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturer with a topic" Women's Health - with Particular Focus on Maternal Health.
Minister said, Indonesia is one of the countries members of the Executive Board (EB) which is a WHO executive part and consists of 34 WHO member states. EB has conducted the trial in January 2010 and then to formulate decisions and policies will be discussed and determined by the WHA, and to give direction to the Director General of WHO in implementing the decisions of WHA.
As a member of the EB, Indonesia proposed the three draft resolutions, namely: the field of Pandemic Influenza Preparedness (PIP), the field of Viral Hepatitis, and Division of Waste Management. The third draft was accepted by the court submitted to the EB and WHA resolutions to be adopted as the WHO to all WHO member countries in the world, said Minister. While in Geneva, Switzerland, in addition to attending the WHA and Executive Board Meeting, Delegation of the Republic of Indonesia will also attend the Open Ended Working Group. In addition Minister of Health will also hold conversation with Egyptian Minister of Health, Ministry of Health of Germany and a meeting with UNAIDS. To smooth over the course of doing, RI delegation will coordinate with the Permanent Representative of Indonesia in Geneva, Switzerland.
Minister said, Open Ended Working Group (OEWG) is a meeting of working groups in the fields of economic, social and cultural rights. OEWG has been running and is still several issues discussed, namely the sharing of viruses into the network of laboratories that the WHO system to the company's vaccines and diagnostics companies and drug companies.
Minister added, this OEWG led two countries namely Mexico and Norway. Mexico became the leader because of experience as a country affected by H1N1 pandemic that could bring his experience and said that the WHO system was not running properly and needed repair. That's because at the time of the pandemic, Mexico as the country most affected was difficult to get the vaccine, it took a long, expensive, and even very late arrival. With the existence of one country which has experienced a situation like that, if we actually thought "lucky" because the H1N1 pandemic is more widespread than to tend to the weight. The point is that the virus rapidly growing everywhere but little mortality. Had that happened was extensive and severe pandemic, it will be much more severe situation, said Minister of Health.
Responding to the incident, Indonesia wants the event of another pandemic, every country that has a production capacity of vaccines, including developing countries like Indonesia, given the right to produce a vaccine for the interests of his country. It also fought for the existence of a stock pile in which each vaccine producers to set aside a portion of their production to stock pile so that countries do not have the ability to produce or purchase the vaccine can get it, said Minister of Health.
On that occasion, the Chairman explained that MPKS is a non structural and responsible to the Minister of Health through SesGen. MPKS current members consist of representatives from medical, legal scholars and experts established by the Decree of Minister of Health with a term of three years, based on Bureau of Law & Organization Ministry of Health.
MPKS task is to give consideration, peeling, or the study of various program activities and policy review of health sector Syarak Islamic Law to the Minister of Health. Among conducting studies on test-tube babies, artificial insemination, vasectomy, tubectomy, as well as the use of vaccines for immunization programs (Polio oral / injection and Meningitis). The Assembly also has a duty to consult with the Council of Ulama Indonesia or institution / organization related to the Islamic community, said Dr. Ahmad Sanusi Tambunan.
