WHO Supports RI initiative to establish WHO Collaborative Centre in Indonesia

“I clearly support RI initiative to establish WHO Collaborating Centre Influenza in Indonesia, and will give aid to realize it,” said WHO Director General, Dr. Margaret Chan, in her meeting with Health Minister of RI, dr. Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, MPH, Dr. PH broke through WHO 126th Executive Board in Geneva, Swiss on January 18, 2010.


Indonesia –US Explore New Health Partnership Framework

13 September 2009, Jakarta – Indonesian Health Minister Dr. dr. Siti Fadilah Supari, Sp.Jp(K) will meet with U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in Washington DC and will leave today for the U.S. to discuss a new health partnership framework aimed at forming a public health and biomedical research centre.


New Influenza A H1N1 Cases Found in West Kalimantan and West Nusa Tenggara

Research and Development Agency of Department of Health reported 58 new positive cases of Influenza A H1N1, consists of 36 male and 22 female. The cases occured in 9 provinces: Bali (2 cases), Banten (8 cases), DKI Jakarta (4 cases), East Java (16 cases), West Kalimantan (1 cases), South Kalimantan (10 cases), East Kalimantan (4 cases), Lampung (12 cases), Riau (1 cases) dan West Nusa Tenggara (1 cases), said Prof. dr. Agus Purwadianto, SH, Sp.FK., Head of Research and Development Agency of Department of Health today.


New Positive Cases of Influenza A H1N1 Reported in Central Kalimantan and Lampung

New positive cases of H1N1 on 2 August 2009 numbers 41 persons consists of 17 male and 24 female. The cases occured in 11 provinces: Bali (3 cases), Banten (4 cases), DKI Jakarta (8 cases), Central Java (2 cases), East Java (1 case), South Kalimantan (1 case), Central Kalimantan (3 cases), Lampung (16 cases), Riau (1 case), South Sulawesi (1 case) and North Sulawesi (1 case). 57 New Cases of Influenza A H1N1

Research and Development Agency of Department of Health reported on Saturday (23/8) that 57 additional people were infected with positive flu A-H1N1 and one of them died. He is a 21 year old man from West Java who died of severe respiratory problems and the laboratory result showed that he was H1N1 positive. Hence cumulatively positive influenza A H1N1 cases amounted to 1,005 people spreading in 24 provinces, said Prof. dr. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, Sp.P (K), MARS, the Director General of Disease Control and Environmental Health of the Department of Health.

When she was a child, she really want to be a mining engineer and went to school in Bandung Technology Institute. She has an ambition to explore an amazing Indonesia's earth richness to be a blessing for Indonesian people. Yet, her father wanted her to be a doctor. Due to her love and loyalty to her parents, she was accepted in Medical Faculty of Gajah Mada University.

Based on Health Office of District Bogor had got the information that in May 5, 2009 at 23.30 WIB there had flood in Wargajaya Village, Sukamakmur Subdistrict in Bogor District, Province of West Java. Now, the flood had lessened.
Flood victim was one person who was dead caused by river flow (his name Engkos, 30 years old). There are no injured and refugee victims.
The efforts had done such as: evacuation, health service in Health Center of Sukamakmur and monitoring in disaster location.
Now, health problems still could be handled by local health government. Monitoring is kept on conducted by Health Office of Bogor District, Provincial Health Office of West Java, Regional Crisis Center of DKI Jakarta and Crisis Center - MOH.

Today, Minister of Health Dr. dr. Siti Fadilah Supari, Sp.JP (K), visits Cicendo Eye Hospital, Bandung. She welcomed by managements of Cicendo Eye Hospital is directed to see health service in outpatient and inpatient unit. In this occasion, the minister talked directly to the patients in the counter of Community Health Assurance (Jamkesmas) Services. This way is often done by the minister when visiting hospital to know that Health Assurance Program has done well and people feel satisfied.

Ministry of Health at this time is designing a development of research facility and production technology change of avian influenza for human. This project was a real step to anticipate a threat of communicable disease in general and influenza pandemic in specific through the provision of avian influenza vaccine. This vaccine can be verify for vaccine production in controlling AH1N1 influenza or more popular as swine flu.

Indonesia suggests WHO to revise the parameter of pandemic status since it can bring serious consequence to a country (in this case, Mexico). Determining the status is not only based on the transmissibility (human-to-human transmission) but also clinical determinants (morbidity and mortality) and gene sequencing (high or low pathogenic).

Minister of Health, Dr. dr. Siti Fadilah Supari, Sp.JP(K) declares Malaria Elimination in the top celebration of 2 nd World Malaria Day at Ministry of Health, on Wednesday, 6 May 2009. The Health Ministerial Decree concerning on Malaria Elimination was symbolically handed over to Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta; Prijanto, Head of Papua Provincial Health Office; dr. Bagus Sukaswara and NAD Provincial Health Office, dr. T.M. Tayeb, representing all governors in Indonesia.

Obligatory rules for pilgrimage group to get meningitis vaccine was from Saudi Arabia Government through Diplomatic Note of Saudi Arabia Embassy in Jakarta , No. 211/94/71/577 dated June 1, 2006 and International Health Regulation 2005. In Diplomatic Note mentioned that every pilgrimage group and health personnel must get meningitis vaccine first before they get visa, said by Dr. Tjandra Yoga Adhitama, DG of Disease Control and Environmental Health, Ministry of Health in Jakarta , May 1, 2009 .
